Termez International Trade, Logistics & Manufacturing Hub

We prepared a regional development report for Surkhandarya Province and, as its first application, produced the master plan, urban design, infrastructure and building designs and feasibility reports for a 166-hectare integrated logistics, industrial, commercial and residential zone in Termez on the Afghan border. The site is designed as the first phase of an industrial city that can grow to 2,500 hectares with demand.

Surkhandarya regional development report

Surkhandarya lies in southern Uzbekistan where the borders of Tajikistan, Afghanistan and Turkmenistan meet. About 10 million people live within 250 km of Termez (Uzbekistan 3.2, Afghanistan 3.7, Tajikistan 2.6, Turkmenistan 0.5 million) and 50 million within 630 km. The report reviews global trade corridors and the New Uzbekistan 2022–2026 and Uzbekistan 2030 strategies, and uses SWOT, PESTLE and BEEM analysis to propose a “Surkhandarya–Termez Regional Development Plan”. Its target years are the republic's 50th and 100th anniversaries: 2041 and 2091.

“For Surkhandarya, on global trade routes and especially the south–north trade axis, where four countries' borders meet, to become a safe, innovative and competitive region with a high quality of life, where trade, manufacturing and tourism grow at international scale.”

The site lies on the M39 international highway and is connected to the rail network; with Termez International Airport and Hairatan port on the Amu Darya it brings four transport modes together. A secure “fast-track” road, separated from city traffic, is proposed from the border gate to the production zone. About four times the size of the existing 36-hectare AIRITOM free zone, the project combines manufacturing, storage, trade and permanent housing.
